The "Beaufort Belles" a female barbershop singing group, is comprised of approximately 20 women of varying ages, all of whom reside in the greater Beaufort area. In its present form, the group has been in existence since about 2000.

Meet Our Director – Cliff Kosier

Cliff is the Minister of Music at Grace Community Church on Hilton Head Island. Cliff has a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting with an emphasis in Vocal Performance from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He was the recipient of the Grace Moore Scholarship while attending the University of Tennessee. He has been a minister of music for 20 years and has worked with choral groups during that time, including several in the community. In 2001 Cliff was awarded a scholarship to sing and attend the Choral Workshop in the Robert Shaw Chorale Organization in New York City with performances at Carnegie Hall. Cliff is the current director of the Beaufort Harbormasters barbershop chorus and the Lowcountry Chorale. Cliff’s wife Lisa is a music teacher at Bluffton Elementary School. They have two daughters, ages 21 and 18.

The Belles practice every Monday from 4:30 to 6:30 at the Baptist Church of Beaufort at 600 Charles Street. Anyone interested in singing with the Beaufort Belles, or just sitting in on a rehearsal to learn more about what they do, is encouraged to contact Doris Heard, or Karen Van Slyke , or simply show up on a Monday afternoon.
